The Bilz’ 1st single, 2 Step Bhangra, became a huge cross-over phenomenon reaching #4 on the Top 7@7 charts on Z103.5FM in Toronto for 3 weeks, standing just one notch above Beyonce and Justin Timberlake. The Bilz also gained recognition as one of MySpace’s Top 10 Independent Canadian Artists and received over 500,000 views on Youtube. Within one month of release, The Bilz 2nd single, Spanish Fly, gained over 15,000 spins on MySpace and Facebook communities. 2 Step Bhangra is also featured on Euromix 2007, a compilation distributed by Universal records featuring artists such as Daft Punk, Armin Van Burren and Paul Okenfold. In 2007, The Bilz & Kashif performed for over 15,000 spectators at RBC’s DesiFest (Dundas Square, Toronto) and for over 20,000 fans at Z103.5′s Summer Rush 2007 (Canada’s Wonderland, Toronto) alongside Enriquez Iglesias, Venga Boys, 112, Crystal Waters, and Alison Hinds. Recently, they also won the “BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR” award for 2 Step Bhangra at the 2007 Bollywood Music Awards in Atlantic City.
